Living in an RV and traveling full-time has been great. However there are three things I miss. They are three miniscule things that you might never have thought of unless you also live full-time in an RV. Well the last one you might think of, but it also might not be as big of a problem as you would think.

  1. Kitchen
    • I miss being able to cook and bake in a full sized kitchen. We are pretty lucky in the fact that our RV has a bigger kitchen than most and an residential sized refrigerator, but it’s just not the same. As soon as you take out a mixing bowl, the ingredients, cookie sheet, and spatula, making cookies gets really cramped. Not to mention our oven is so small that you can only fit one mini cookie sheet inside it.
  2. Backyard
    • Having a fenced in backyard allowed me to spend time outside with some privacy. In campgrounds there is no space where you can just sit outside without everybody being able to see you. Most people don’t care what you’re doing and don’t pay any attention to you, but if they wanted to they could look at you.
  3. Personal Space
    • I currently share a bedroom with all three of my brothers. There is no personal space. We are doing a good job of not annoying each other but sometimes we could all use some quiet time by ourselves. Also our stuff is everywhere. Trying to fit clothes, books, and other personal items for four people into a room that is 8 long and 12 feet wide is nearly impossible.

While these three things are frustrating, the trade off outweighs the annoyance. Getting to travel all over the United States is an awesome opportunity and I’m so lucky to have it. Waking up next to the mountains or the ocean is the coolest thing ever. I don’t think I’ll be able to live without these things forever, but I can handle living without them for a little while. I won’t be able to go too much longer without seeing snow though.
